KC Concepcion: Alam ba ni Bianca na tini-text din ako ni Lino?

March 2, 2008

KC ConcepcionWHEN KC Concepcion was asked if Richard Gutierrez is wooing her, her answer was: “You ask him na lang.

Mamaya, I’d say yes, hindi naman pala. How embarrassing, di ba? Basta on Valentine’s Day, he sent me my favorite flowers, long stemmed roses. Dati ko na namang friend si Richard kasi my mom is a good friend of their family.”

Is it true that there are now negotiations between GMA Films and Star Cinema for Richard to be her leading man in her debut movie? “I don’t know. But if it’s really him, okay lang as kilala ko na nga siya.”

What can she say about the rumored reconciliation of Lino Cayetano and Bianca Gonzales? “He also greeted me sa text. O, alam ba ni Bianca that he texted me?”

KC can get a lot of tips about the Pinoy culture of courting in the episode of her mom’s show, “Sharon”, tonight on ABS-CBN with PBB’s Will Devaughn and Gaby de la Merced, Ms. Earth Priscilla Mereilles, and TV hosts Lui Villaruz and RJ Ledesma as the special guests. She can find out if young Pinoys today still believe in the concept of “ligawan”.

Are guys still willing to be subjected to do some chores to impress their ladylove and her family? Do girls still prefer to be courted or would they just rather start their relationship with guys as friends? You’ll hear the revelations of the Megastar herself and her guests about this issue on “Sharon” after “Goin Bulilit”.

MYLES CHANGES MIND OVER OLD BF

MYLES Hernandez was all set to give up her career to settle in the U.S. with her American boyfriend. “But I realized he’s too old for me,” she says. “I won’t say how old but definitely older than my current Canadian boyfriend who’s only 29. Three years din kaming nag-live in and I really thought sasama na ko sa kanya sa States. Last Christmas, I did a show sa L.A. at nagkita kami roon and that’s when I proved to myself na I have no more feelings for him.”

Where did she meet her Canadian BF? “We also did a show in Canada and I met him in Vancouver. He’s a Pinoy who grew up there, a businessman with his own car shop. Umuwi siya rito and stayed with me for more than a month. Next time, ako naman ang dadalaw sa kanya roon.”

So will she be migrating to Canada soon? “No. I just bought a house and lot for my family sa BF Las Pinas, so dito muna ako. I’d rather focus on my career, lalo ngayon lead na ako sa bagong video ng Viva, ‘Pinoy Kamasutra 2: Fire Water Earth Rain’.”

How far did she go in this? “Ay naku, ibinigay ko na lahat. I play a girl who gets an erotic email that awakes my lustful desires and I try to find out the identity of my secret admirer in various guys with whom I have sexual encounters while I explore the various elements of fire, water, earth and rain. Pinakagrabe rito ‘yung dogstyle love scene sa harap ng lababo habang naghuhugas ako ng plato. Nakakaloka ‘yon kasi umaalog-alog kami habang hinuhugasan ko ‘yung mga plato. But in the end, I’ll discover na ang nagpapadala pala sa’kin ng e-mail is Satchie Sanders at meron kaming explosive love scene dito sa bathtub. Personal choice ko si Satchie in this kind of scene kasi malinis ang buong katawan niya.”

“Pinoy Kamasutra @” is available on VCD for only P199 and DVD for P299.

‘REGINE WON’T BE MISSED ON SOP’

READERS continue to email us their reaction on Regine Velasquez’ aborted transfer to ABS-CBN. This is from Millie Tumbokon: “Kahit umalis si Regine sa SOP, hindi siya magiging kawalan dahil ang daming ibang mahusay kumanta roon. Kyla can fill in her shoes anytime. Also, yung winner sa Pinoy Pop Superstar na si Maricris Garcia na hindi pahuhuli ng biritan sa kanya. She won’t be missed at all, lalo na nga’t gurangis na rin siya compared sa mga batang singer. Soon, sina Pilita Corrales at Carmen Soriano na ang makakasama niya.”

Sobra naman. How unkind. It’s like it’s a sin to get old. (But come to think of it, in showbiz, there’s a premium on youth.) This one is from Jingjing Sy-Kiat: “GMA should have allowed Regine to  leave. Last Sunday’s ‘SOP’ rated high and defeated ‘ASAP’ even if she was not there. That proves the show does not need her and can stand on its own as they already have a good roster of singers and hosts.”

RICHARD, JEWEL MOBBED IN BAGUIO

THE popularity of “Kamandag” became apparent when the float carrying its stars, Richard Gutierrez and Jewel Mische, were mobbed by countless fans at Baguio’s Panagbenga Festival. Everyone calls them Vergel and Jenny, their names in the hit telefantasya. This week will be an exciting one for followers of “Kamandag” as there will be a fierce showdown between Vergel/Kamandag and Haring Gulag of the wolves (Zoren Legaspi.) Gulag is really wise as he even asks the help of Agol (Elvis Gutierrez) just when Vergel is about to defeat him, but Haring Dinggol of the monkeys (Benjie Paras) won’t allow this as he wants it to be a fair fight. The fight is stopped and Gulag makes Vergel his slave.  Alicia (Eula Valdes) is determined to save her son Vergel from Gulag, who gets mad when he sees Alicia talking to Vergel. He’s about to throw a spear on Vergel but Ka Miguel, another slave, hits him with a stone on the head. Ka Miguel believes Vergel is their savior. Gulag then tells Agol to hatch a plan on how to kill Vergel.

UNTRACEABLE: THRILLER THAT WORKS

WE haven’t enjoyed an effective thriller for the longest time and we’re glad to note that “Untraceable” is a thriller that works. It’s about a cyber serial killer who thinks of different ways to kill people on camera while showing it on the internet in live streaming video. The more people visit his site called “killwithme”, the faster the victim dies. And would you believe that as much as about 12 million viewers are eager to watch such a gruesome spectacle in real time on line, even if they’ve already been warned that they become an accomplice in the process?

The film offers a refreshing change from other thrillers in that the hero who solves the crime is a woman, Agent Jennifer Marsh (Diane Lane) of the FBI Portland Cyber Crimes unit that’s in charge of casing sexual predators on the net and identity thieves. She’s a widow who lives with her mom (Mary Beth Hurt) and daughter (Perla Jardine). Her younger, easygoing partner at the FBI office is Griffin Dowd (Colin Hanks, son of Tom Hanks). The Portland cop who helps them with the case is Det. Eric Box (Billy Burke, also a cop in “Fracture”), who happens to know her late husband who was also a cop.

They’re up against a mysterious hacker who uses the computers of other people in the internet to conceal his identity and origins. His ways of torturing his victims to death (he starts with a kitten) are sadistic and merciless.         One victim is killed through an intravenous injection of an anti-coagulant that makes him bleed slowly. Another one is buried up to his waist in concrete than burned slowly through ultra-hot sun lamps. The other one (who’s very close to Diane Lane) is subjected to sulfuric acid that melts his flesh.

The film is not a whodunit, because the identity of the killer is revealed early on. The mystery involves what his motive is in killing people so gruesomely and how the law enforcers work hard to be able to uncover his identity.

The film is also a comment on the desensitization of the internet. We have no doubt that if something like this would happen in real life, millions of voyeuristic web surfers will still visit the site even if they know that doing so would just hasten the death of the victim.

The film also shows how idiotic net users can be in the comments they post on the chat room on screen. The lines they write are really stupid and senseless, just like most of the comments we get from readers who are asked for remarks about the entertainment columns they read on the net. “Untraceable” does dramatize the kind of things that the anonymity of the internet results into and, sadly, even encourages.

Smartly directed by  Gregory Hoblit (“Primal Fear”, “Fracture”), it’s one well crafted movie that maintains suspense all throughout and has a very excitingly scary climax and a very satisfying conclusion. If you’re a techie, you’ll also find the script delightful as the computer tech jargon they use sounds very persuasive. We just don’t they know if it’s accurately real as we ourselves are not a techie.

Her role here is not as arresting as in “Unfaithful” (for which she got an Oscar nomination), but Diane Lane is powerfully convincing in the role of the ass-kicking Federal agent who finds the cyber crime so repulsive that she uses all her intellectual and physical abilities to stop him. The actor who plays the villain (we won’t reveal who he is) is also good as the antagonist who looks so cool and creepy as the computer whiz from hell.
