LAST Saturday, March 8, the Bench apparel had a mini-fashion show at the Activity Center of Trinoma Mall as prelude to the unveiling of the newest Bench underwear billboard featuring the newest celebrity endorser of Bench Body, Dingdong Dantes.
After walking down the ramp with Dingdong as the only celebrity model, the press people, together with the models, and Ben Chan (the owner of Bench), proceeded to the Guadalupe, Makati City for the unveiling of the biggest billboard of Bench.
The group had to ride a ferry boat while viewing the unveiling of Dingdong’s first underwear billboard. Before that, the press had the chance to talk to the actor while on board the coaster that took them from Trinoma mall to Guadalupe.
The press congratulated him for being the new endorser of Bench and the exciting pictorial that Dingdong did as shown in the special edition brochure given to the press.
According to Dingdong, everything was perfect timing for the Bench endorsement. “This is like a childhood dream or passion. I never thought when I was young that I’d be able to do something like this. I wouldn’t want to mention what happened before. But the perfect opportunity came. The Bench offer came to me at the right time. Perfect time that I am in condition and in shape,” says the lead actor of Marimar.
His pictorial for Bench was done in a day in Subic, with ace photographer Ronnie Salvacion. Nuel Manapat was his stylist, with Juan Sarte as make-up artist. The pictorial went on smoothly with nary a hitch except that it rained.
Dingdong was on a diet for two weeks and took religious trips to the gym to workout. He wanted to be in shape for what could be the biggest pictorial of his life. Of course, he also kept in mind that he can’t be complacent and has to remind himself each day the necessity to keep himself in shape.
He was apprehensive in doing a pictorial for an underwear, and feared he might not be able to pull it off.
“I feel doing a pictorial outdoor is better than doing it inside a studio. I started as a dancer then an actor. But I never thought I could become model. I know the models walk down the ramp na medyo payat ang katawan. That’s why I told myself I could never be a model.
”But when I was posing and everything, para kong na-feel na I’m a legit model. Maybe because mas mamu-motivate ka kapag outdoor. Mas maganda ang pakiramdam sa outdoor,” says the new Bench Body model.
