Sergio - MariMar wedding breaks record

The bride cried. So did the groom. Marimar a.k.a. Marian Rivera and Sergio a.k.a. Dingdong Dantes finally – after so many botched attempts, mostly masterminded by bitter ex Angelica Santibanez a.k.a. Katrina Halili – exchanged wedding vows, which was aired on the last day of the super-successful GMA prime-time show “MariMar.” “MariMar” posted the highest rating for a TV series, garnering 52.6%, beating the previous record of another GMA show, “Darna,” at 52.2%.

The wedding at the San Agustin church was shot days ahead of the show’s finale last Friday, March 14, but the reception was aired live and in real time at the network’s studio.

The show’s directors, Mac Alejandre and Bb. Joyce Bernal, with the production staff and crew, along with the family and friends of the show, witnessed the couple’s heartfelt thank-you speech at the dinner-dance.

Marian and Ding-dong were in character, locking lips many, many times to indulge the request of their “guests.” They recited their vows before a teary-eyed crowd who got very overwhelmed by the occasion. Some guests very candid, saying that they would miss watching the characters they have grown to love since Day 1.

The good-looking couple were also emotional as they acknowledged the people behind the show who tirelessly thought of ways to make the show exciting, the press who helped drum up interest for it and the viewers who cheered barrio lass MariMar as she went through her many battles, mostly against the vile Angelica, her former stepmother-in-law who later turned out to be her long-lost half-sister and her bitter rival for the heart of the dashing Sergio. So it was understandable Aside from the gorgeous wedding, one of the finale’s most-awaited scenes was the bloody fight scene between the half-sisters, which culminated with Angelica falling from a helicopter and being dragged by crocs.

It is not the end for Marian Rivera and Dingdong. It has already been reported that the attractive pair will next be seen together in “Dyesebel” as they, this time, conquer the underwater world, and the primetime viewers, of course.
