KC Concepcion is thrilled for Dad’s homecoming
March 30, 2008
GABBY’S eldest daughter, KC Concepcion, has a four-week drama anthology in time for her birthday on April 7, “I Am KC”, that premiered last night, but it was only last Friday that ABS-CBN held its presscon. “I’m very thankful to ABS for giving me this opportunity to work with different directors and co-stars and featuring different stories,” she says.
We believe it’d been better if she did a full length film first before a TV show like this. “I really want to do a movie this year, but there’s no confirmed story or director yet.
Also, there’s no word about my teaming up with Richard Gutierrez that everyone’s asking me about. I welcomed doing a drama anthology like this as it will provide good training for me in acting and facing the camera para by the time I’m doing a movie, which is a different medium, I’d be fully prepared na.”
After she did heavy drama in “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, last night’s episode, “Binibining Palengke”, showed KC doing comedy with Ai Ai de las Alas as her mom, directed by Wenn Deramas, and with Jake Cuenca as leading man.
“Akala mo madali ang trabaho kasi nagpapatawa lang, but comedy is very serious work. Dapat, seryoso ka sa intent ng bawat scene and I’d like to thank Ms. Ai Ai for being so supportive. After seeing her in ‘Tanging Ina’, siya talaga ang concept ko ng comedy and I’m so grateful na napakabait niya at inalalayan niya ko sa scenes namin.”
The second episode on April 5 is “Yes, Sir”, directed by Andoy Ranay. KC plays the chief of staff of a hotel with Luis Manzano as her boyfriend. They often end up in conflict because of the pressures of her job and she becomes closer to her boss, Ed, played by Albert Martinez who’s her mom Sharon Cuneta’s first boyfriend in real life. Their friendship makes them discover the real meaning of happiness in life. The third episode on April 12, “Time’s Up”, is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng. KC is an accounting student who gets accidentally killed in a shootout, but through her friend, Makising Morales, she will have a second chance to find her killer and live again, with the condition that she must able to change her killer for the better in just three days. Her co-stars here are Gardo Versoza, Zanjoe Marudo, Jiro Manio, Joshua Cadelina andMatteo Guidicelli.
The last episode is a musical on April 12, “Love 2 Dance”. KC considers this the most challenging as she will be required to dance with Vhong Navarro. They play dance partners from childhood who vow to take care of each other until they achieve the stardom they dream of. But Vhong gets a big break that requires him to dump KC. Will he do it?
You can be part of “I Am KC” in its Who Am I Text Promo. Each week, you’d be asked what character KC plays and just download featured ringtones by texting KC (then letter of answer) to 2366, Saturdays from 12 noon to 11:59 PM. You will get a chance to win P300 cellphone load and a bonus prize of P10,000 if you’re the one who first texted the right answer. And what can KC say to her dad’s coming home? “I’d be happy to see him. He told me he doesn’t fear anything in coming home. Gusto niya talaga umuwi.”
Would she care to do a movie with him? “Yes, but later na. Dapat with my mom muna kasi siya ang nagpalaki sa akin.”
