Anne Curtis, Sam Milby almost ‘on’
May 8, 2008
WE’VE seen “When Love Begins” and the material about two very disparate persons who fall in love is something writer-director Joey Reyes has done before in many of his past films. Aga Muhlach has played the role of the problematic and carefree hero who has difficulty coping with the people and situations around him in “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal” and “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana.”
This time, it’s the leading lady, Anne Curtis, who has that kind of attitude and Anne does it exceedingly well. She has the insouciance of a bratty and impulsive girl and she is totally convincing in the flippant way she delivers her lines casually, like when she tells Aga “Sosyal ako!”, “You can kiss me” or “I’ll see you when I want to because I decide.”
Her acting has really improved vastly, considering that she had difficulty saying long lines before. We first noticed her improvement in “Maging Sino Ka Man” where she did well as Celine, the girl called a slut who answers back: “Yes, but I am the best slut in town!”
Anne also displays her seductive figure in various bikini scenes. She absolutely looks gorgeous and no doubt this makes “When Love Begins” really her movie. Her stunning screen presence is surely also the reason why she was chosen to play the title role in the new ABS-CBN fantaserye, “Diyosa”, where she plays the daughter of Mariang Sinukuan and Bernardo Carpio who’s a goddess of air, earth and water. As such, she has several transfigurations as a human eagle, a centaur, and as a mermaid. She’s “Mulawin,” “Dyesebel” and the fawn in “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” rolled into one. No doubt her fans are now eagerly waiting for this.
Anne is also a most sought after endorser. She plugs Head & Shoulders Shampoo, Freeway, GSM Blue and Biolink Lotion. Anne will also do comedy in the new gag show, “Banana Split”, and on Sundays, she does singing and dancing in “ASAP”. “Ang dami ko talagang blessings na dapat ipagpasalamat,” she says at the victory party hosted by Viva for her for the success of “When Love Begins” that earned P50 million in five days. “At least, kahit may kalaban kaming big Hollywood movie, hindi kami basta nagpatalo.”
What about her lovelife? Is she finally officially on with Sam Milby? “We’re getting there, almost there na nga. Of all my suitors, siya talaga ang naiiba at pinakagusto ko. Sinusu-nod niya ang book na ‘When Boy Meets Girl’ by Joshua Harris sa panliligaw niya sa akin. We’re paired in ‘Diyosa’ and we’re also slated to do a new movie.”
On Monday, she’s leaving for a ten-day vacation in Europe. “I owe it to myself to have this break as I’ve been working very hard lately. Mostly, I’d stay in Paris, then I’d go visit my half sister in Spain. When I come back here, umpisa na kami ng taping ng ‘Di-yosa’.”
In an interview, Annabelle Rama hinted that she warned her son Richard Gutierrez against Anne when they were going steady. What can she say about this? “Well, she’s been very vocal naman noon na ayaw niya sa’kin for Richard because of my playgirl image. Takot nga ako sa kanya noon, but at least, I’ve proven to her na hindi naman totoong papalit-palit ako ng lalaki. Naging okay naman kami ni Tita Annabelle and she even allowed me to play her in ‘Magpakailanman’ kaya ako talaga ang unang young actress who got to play her on screen.”
