Take a tour in time as Lea Salonga tells us her story in her upcoming two-night concert musical “LEA, My Life…0n Stage”, presented by Enfakid. From her beginnings as a child star to her TV years to West End and Broadway to music and movie magic, Lea will revisit the highlights of her ever flourishing career.
Produced by entertainment & events company, Ambient Events, the musical is a collaborative effort including Lea, her brother and award-winning musical director Gerard Salonga, FILharmoniKa, and long-time mentor and two-time awardee for best stage director Freddie Santos.
Executed in the style of a true stage musical, it will delve into the different chapters of her life, with images straight from the past to supplement a magnificent live performance accompanied by a full orchestra featuring songs from her various performances and records.
Not only is it going to be a journey into what she has accomplished, it will also look into the bright expectations that are yet in store for her. Truly a world-class performer, Lea Salonga has tackled a variety of roles, including that of wife and mother, but 30 years has done nothing to slow down this timeless star. Join her as she celebrates the most memorable moments of her life and career in this spectacular two-night concert musical to be held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Plenary Hall on May 23 and 24, 2008 at 8:00 P.M.

A world-class performer, Lea Salonga is best known for her unforgettable turn in the West End and Broadway hit musical Miss Saigon, which earned her the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1990, as well as the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards in 1991. Her career started at an early age, beginning with appearances in Repertory Philippines productions and going on to record her first album when she was but a girl of ten. Small Voice received a gold certification, and her later recordings including Lea..In Love, By Heart, and Inspired met with even more success.
Aside from Miss Saigon, Lea was part of other major musical productions such as Les Miserables, Into the Woods, Grease, and They’re Playing Our Song. She also appeared in the movie Redwood Curtain with John Lithgow and Jeff Daniels, and recorded the singing voices of Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin and of the title role in Mufon. On the other hand, her musical journey has included her own concerts held here and abroad, opening for artists like Stevie Wonder and the late Frank Sinatra in their Manila stints, and guesting in international concerts.
Gerard Salonga is known as one of the most accomplished musical directors, conductors and arrangers in the Philippines. He has worked with a number of highly recognized artists such as his sister Lea Salonga, Regine Velasquez, Gary Valenciano, and Martin Nievera. He was arranger and resident conductor of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra for two years, has guest conducted the Peace Philharmonic Philippines and is currently the music director and conductor of FILharmoniKa. Gerard has a number of awards under his belt, including the Promax World Silver Award in New York for best use of music with or without lyrics (2004 & 2005), the Aliw Award for Best Musical Director (2002, 2003, 2005) and the Awit Award for Best Musical Arrangement (2006).
With a career in the performing arts spanning over thirty years, Freddie Santos appeared in more than a hundred professional theater productions with theater affiliations including the Repertory Philippines, Teatro Pilipino, SRO Philippines, and the Repertory Philippines. He has written, directed and designed more than 400 concerts — from pop to classical to rock-and-roll — featuring top solo acts such as Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Janno Gibbs. A two-time winner of the Aliw Award for Best Stage Director, Freddie has infused a crossover touch into Trumpets, Asia’s leading gospel stage company, and his productions are some of the most successful stage musicals in the Philippine theater history. He has also made significant contributions in music, television, social events and concerts.
The most in-demand orchestra in the country today, FILharmoniKa was formed under the leadership of Gerard Salonga in 2005 as the in-house recording ensemble of Carmel House Studios. With some of the country’s finest musicians, it has recorded for the film scores of Ang Pamana and Tugger, and TV scores of Jlppy, Journey with Teny, and Shelldon, as well as for the albums of Lea Salonga, Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera/ Gary Valenciano, and Mon David. They can also be heard on station IDs and major television commercials.
