Why Rica Peralejo is loveless
May 21, 2008
RICA Peralejo is now taking up creative writing at Ateneo. Her younger sister Paola (who appeared in “Tabing Ilog”) just finished college magna cum laude. Will she strive to get the same honors?
“No,” she says. “Iba naman si Paola. I really admire her. When she decided showbiz is not for her, she put her heart and soul into her studies at ayan nga, she graduated with honors.”
Paola bowed out of showbiz quickly. Will Rica be staying on for keeps? “No. I don’t see myself growing old here. Siguro when I’m 40 and I no longer get good roles, I’ll focus on doing something else.”
Right now, she doesn’t even have a lovelife. “While we were shooting ‘Caregiver’ in London, I met a foreigner who said he wanted to marry me. I said why, when we’ve just met each other. He said that he has a whole lifetime for him to get to know me. Siempre, hindi ko pinatulan.”
How does she feel that ex-boyfriend Bernard Palanca has migrated to Australia?
“I wish him the best. I hope he finds happiness and fulfillment in life there. Ako naman, hindi pa uli nagka-boyfriend after him. As you grow older kasi, nagbabago ang priorities mo. I guess that goes with maturity. Hindi ka na restless ‘pag wala kang boyfriend.”
In “Caregiver,” she plays Sharon Cuneta’s friend in a care home where they both work. “Winter pa when we got to London and it’s gloomy kaya depressing, lalo na yung real caregivers doon told us na lumalakad sila pauwi ng bahay nila nang umiiyak as they miss a lot of people back home. But I’m glad the movie gave me the chance to work with the Megastar, Sharon Cuneta. You’d think na sa status niya, she’ll have airs o magpapa-importancia, but she’s so down-to-earth and very supportive sa aming mga kasama niya. Add to that the fact na napakahusay niya talagang artista and I learned so much from her.”
