DURING the one-on-one interviews after the press preview for her new teleserye, “My Girl” for ABS-CBN, PBB Teen grand winner Kim Chiu wasn’t able to hold back her tears when she was nagged by some reporters with questions as to the real score between her and leading man Gerald Anderson.
The writers insisted that it’s improbable that someone like Gerald could give her a car as birthday gift, while she was consistently denying they had romantic involvement.
“But it’s true,” she repeatedly said. When the reporters took her words as another denial, she allegedly stood up and left crying.
According to our sources, this prompted her to heed her strict father to return the pink Ford Lynx that Gerald gave her.
To think that a week ago, Kim could still joke about the car and how it was given to her by Gerald.
Kim was with some friends at Eastwood when Gerald came unannounced with the pink car. He invited her for a joyride around the complex, until Gerald told her, it’s a gift. “Bakit?” she even asked Gerald. “Eh di ba gusto mo ng pink car?” Still unbelieving, she thought it was a joke even when the car was already parked in their garage.
Her father asked her to return the car immediately, but Gerald rejected the idea.
That started Kim’s dilemma.
It appeared that she was lying everytime she denied Gerald as her boyfriend, even when he has to formally court her.
And so, her resilience came to an end and decided to return the car, once and for all.
If it really came from Gerald, we think he’s really in love with Kim. But if it was meant to drumbeat “My Girl,” it not only put Kim in a bind, it might also jeopardize a beautiful love team. As director Jerome Pobocan stated: “Why fix it when it’s not broken?” –EUGENE E. ASIS
