Daboy’s death big blow for Mark Fernandez

June 9, 2008

SHOWBIZ Central’ is celebrating its first anniversary but because of Rudy Fernandez’ demise, they made the show mainly a tribute to him and called it “Remembering Daboy.” There were many touching footage shown from his past films and TV shows, including that famous line from “Markang Bungo” that he delivered before he shot someone: “Walang personalan ‘to, trabaho lang.”

Host Pia Guanio was at the wake at Heritage Park, Taguig and she did poignant interviews (with the help of Lolit Solis) with his widow, Lorna Tolentino, sons Ralph and Renz, sister Merle Fernandez (who shot to fame in “Uhaw” in 1971), former partner Alma Moreno and their son, Mark Anthony, and his best friends in the film industry: Sens. Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada, and Phillip Salvador.

All of them said they will miss Daboy so much as he’s a good husband, brother, father and friend. Hardest hit is Mark Anthony as his dad was by his side at the time he was having personal problems that led him to seek help a rehab clinic. He has since recovered and even his career is now doing well, what with him paired with Regine Velasquez in “Kim Sam Soon.” He’s glad that before his dad departed, he was able to show him that he has really changed for the better and is now a responsible husband to Melissa and father to his kids.

From someone who also just lost his wife our sincerest condolences to Lorna and Daboy’s three sons. The pain and grief over the loss will get more intense after the funeral, but just continue to trust in the Lord and He’ll give you all the strength you need in your moment of bereavement.
