John Lloyd Cruz ready for kissing scenes with Luis Manzano

February 27, 2009

AFTER “You Changed My Life” which, as of press time is doing well at the box-office, John Lloyd Cruz will get busy with his next grand project for Star Cinema titled “A Mother’s Story.” Here, he shares the frame with Batangas Governor Vilma Santos and Luis Manzano.

“I’m really excited with this project,” states John Lloyd. “For one, I’ll be with Tita Vi who is one of the industry’s finest actresses plus Luis. It’s my first time to work with them in a film. I’ll just tape my remaining scenes for “I Love Betty La Fea” then off I go to New York for the shoot.”

Interestingly, the movie tackles the relationship of a mother to her gay son and his lover.

“I think this is the first time that there’s a local movie that will touch on this. It’s really a good project. It’s not a straight drama. In fact, from what I know, we’ll have lots of light moments which make it more realistic.”

Fans ni Bea Alonzo, imbiyerna kay Pops Fernandez!

February 27, 2009

February 27, 2009

THE victory party for the success of “When I Met U” was held at Gazebo Royale on Visayas Ave. last Thursday night. In the spirit of goodwill, GMA Films prexy Anette Abrogar raffled off P50,000 worth of cash prizes to the invited press people, with stars Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion drawing the names of the winners. What can they say to their loyal KChardee fans who are requesting Star Cinema and GMA Films to pair them together again?

“It really depends on the producers if they’d allow us to be reunited,” says KC. “Hopefully, we can work together again sooner rather than later.”

“Ako rin, I pray na sana nga makagawa kami uli ng movie in the near future,” adds Richard.

Have they made a commitment to each other to be faithful even if they’d temporarily separate ways?

Karylle torn between Jericho Rosales and Christian Bautista

February 27, 2009

KARYLLE used to be with Universal Records but she now launches a new album for PolyEast. “No problem,” says PolyEast boss Ramon Chuaying. “We’re sister companies anyway and we both believe in Karylle’s talent.”

Karylle’s album is titled “Time for Letting Go” and it sounds like it’s dedicated to ex-BF Dingdong Dantes. Truth is, most of the songs in the album can be connected with her breakup with Dingdong. Is this intentional?

“The album aims to help those who’ve gone through painful experience and want to bounce back,” she says. “The retreat I took and the counseling sessions I had with Fr. Ted Gonzales of Center for Family Ministries at the Ateneo helped me a lot and I’m glad I chose to be open about the whole experience and face the problem head on. As a result, I met a lot of good people who inspired so many realizations because they found similar bumps and sparks of light in their own journeys.

Joc-joc indicted; GMA accountability pushed

February 23, 2009

President Arroyo’s accountability in the misuse of the P728-million fertilizer funds during the 2004 presidential polls was reaffirmed by Senate probers in their second round of inquiry into the scam, despite a lack of evidence directly implicating her.

Senators, however, said that indications all point to Mrs. Arroyo’s knowledge or liability as this fund diversion could not have occured without the acquiescence of Malacañang in what they affirmed as a diversion of the funds to the campaign kitty of the administration during the 2004 presidential polls.

“We have developed a culture of kakapalan (coarseness). This menace must stop. The President must explain. The Ombudsman must resign,” Sen. Richard Gordon said in a press conference yesterday as he presented the executive summary of his blue ribbon committee’s 130-page report on the said fund scam.

World condemned Edsa II, not Edsa III—Erap

February 23, 2009

Former President Joseph Estrada yesterday stressed that it was the Edsa ll coup d’ etat staged by then Vice President Gloria Arroyo and her coup plotters in 2001 and not the masses’ Edsa lll that has been condemned worldwide.

Sought for reaction over the warning of President Arroyo that the Philippines would turn into an international pariah if its people staged another uprising, bloodless or not, to unseat those in power, Estrada said that experts locally and internationally have declared that “the rule of law was set aside for the rule of force in Edsa ll.”

“Edsa 1 was accepted, with President Cory. But it was Edsa ll where the whole world said that this was wrong as this was done outside of the Constitution,” Estrada said.

“It was said that the rule of law was set aside and that the rule of force prevailed. Edsa l was destroyed because of the coup that was Edsa ll. Edsa l was admired the world over, which is why this event should be celebrated. Edsa ll was wrong, which is why it is not being celebrated,” he stressed.
