MOTHER Lily Monteverde is very proud of her lead star in “Mano Po 6, My Mother’s Love.” “Wala akong mairereklamo kay Sharon Cuneta,” she says. “She’s very cooperative even when we shot in Beijing na sobrang lamig at hectic ang sked ng shooting, she didn’t complain. Ang sarap katrabaho, very professional.”
Sharon is currently doing shows in the U.S. “Pagbalik niya, salang agad siya sa shooting. Three days na lang siya, tapos na movie. We left no stone unturned to make sure her first movie with us will be a good one. We’re spending P70 million dahil sa Beijing shooting pa lang, big budget na. Just for the permits we got so we cans shoot in various locations in Beijing, I already paid P1.5 million.
Wala pa du’n yung gastos sa plane, sa accommodations. Bawat kilos mo sa Beijing, bayad ka ng bayad. Ganun sila. Aside from that, we recreated an old Chinese village in Quezon Province for other key scenes in the movie na ang ganda talaga ng production design you’d think you’re really in China.”
Sharon plays a rich tycoon and she’s in 80% of the film. “Bawat scene niya, iba ang damit niya and we spent for her wardrobe kasi kailangan power dressing siya in all her scenes. We got her a stylist and her own designer, aside from her costumes made by the internationally famous Shanghai Tang. Siempre, ayoko namang mapahiya sa Megastar kasi first movie niya ito with Regal. We also got a powerhouse cast to support her like Christopher de Leon, Kris Aquino, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Heart Evangelista, Dennis Trillo, Boots Anson Roa, Ciara Sotto, JC De Vera, Glaiza de Castro and many more. Sa casting pa lang, malaki na and the scope and sweep of the movie, impressive talaga.”
This early, those who’ve seen the rushes predict that just like “Mano Po 1″ that was also megged by Joel Lamangan, “Mano Po 6″ will once again win as best picture in the filmfest, with Sharon sure to bag the best actress award.
