iPhone 5 will ‘put Samsung Galaxy S3 to shame,’ says Foxxcon CEO
June 21, 2012
The next-gen iPhone will make its nearest Android rival, the Samsung Galaxy S3, look positively sub-par and herald a new era of dominance for the Californian tech giant, the head of Apple’s main manufacturing partner has claimed.
Addressing shareholders at the Foxconn AGM, CEO Terry Gou predicted that the handset very unofficially dubbed the iPhone 5 “will put the Galaxy S3 to shame”.
Unfortunately, our bullish friend didn’t tell us why it’s going to be such a world-beater. But he did explain that at least part of what he perceives will be Apple’s competitive advantage in years to come will be its deal with Sharp to supply screens for future iDevices.
This arrangement and the access it provides to innovative, game-changing screen technology will purportedly give Foxconn a three-year lead over Samsung, Gou claims.
Apple is expected to lift the lid on its sixth smartphone in September or October. As well as a radically redesigned shell, the handset is expected to feature a quad-core processor, a larger screen of around four inches and 4G network support in select territories.
Last week, the shiny gadget-purveyor showcased the operating system that will likely power the iPhone 5. Dubbed iOS 6, the latest iteration of Apple’s software adds an improved version of the Siri voice commands app and a proprietary mapping solution set to replace Google Maps.

Join Nokia’s search for the new Official Ring Tune contest and Win US$10,000
September 11, 2011
While audio branding is not something that we hear (pun unintended) about everyday, Nokia’s classic ringtone – or the “Nokia Tune”, at least to my generation, is certainly heraldic, and has become unmistakably associated with the Finnish mobile giant since it was first introduced, back in 1994.
Now as a distinct sign of the changing times – Nokia has decided to rebrand itself, and refresh the “world’s most recognised audio brand asset”, by announcing a contest to compose the new Nokia Tune. The new signature tune will begin shipping with select Nokia devices in 2012.
