Ara Mina Biography, Profile and Picture Gallery

Hazel Reyes-Mathay, who is better known by her screen name Ara Mina (born May 9, 1979 in Manila, Philippines), is a Filipina actress, model and singer. She is a grand daughter of former Quezon City mayor Ishmael Mathay, Jr. She won the Golden Screen Award in 2004 for Best Actress in a drama in the Philippines. Since 1998, Mina has been a regular cast member of Bubble Gang, a sketch comedy television show in the Philippines.

She is the daughter of Chuck Mathay, a former Philippine congressman from Quezon City. Her sister Cristine Reyes is also an actress with GMA Network. She had to leave GMA and her show Bubble Gang due to ABS-CBN’s exclusive contract and having her show Prinsesa ng Banyera as Angelika de la Cruz’ replacement for her role.

Ara Mina is a mixture of everything nice and not. You can see her answer with straightforwardness all the intrigues thrown upon her, yet her sweetness reflects by her princess-style bedroom in her lucky house, which, unfortunately, is up for sale as of press time. But what makes Ara totally unique from all other sexy actresses and starlets emerging today?

Ever since, Ara Mina wanted to become part of the entertainment industry, perhaps inspired by her mother. At an early age of 7, she was already joining pageants sponsored by her school, where her usual talents will either be singing or acting. However, it was only in her stint in That’s Entertainment, hosted by German “Kuya Germs” Moreno, that she got the first taste of show business. She was 13 years old then.

CRISTINE Reyes is now with ABS-CBN, but she also signed a three-year management contract with Viva Artist Agency of Veronique del Rosario. She now joins the ranks of Anne Curtis, Rufa Mae Quinto, Sarah Geronimo and Rachelle Ann Go who are all with VAA. “I know I’ll have a better future in showbiz with VAA managing me,” she says.

When she left GMA-7 and moved to ABS, she was called a pasaway, an ingrate, and other names. Does she regret leaving GMA? “No, happy ako maging kapamilya. Heto nga, I have ‘Eva Fonda’, which will be shown on primetime. We’re taping week 4 now.”

We thought they stopped taping and had to reshoot. “That’s true. After management previewed the first few episodes, ABS decided to reshoot the scenes of Jean Saburit, Mark Gil and Baron Geisler who play a family kunsaan nagtatrabaho ako as maid. May binago yata sa istorya, pero sa scenes ko, walang ni-reshoot. Meron din daw part na nasira so kailangang ireshoot.”

Ara Mina panay ang pagtatakip sa masamang ugali ni Cristine Reyes

SA huling away ng magkapatid na Cristine Reyes at Ara Mina ay tikom pa rin ang bibig ng huli.  Pilit pa rin niyang itinatago ang tunay na dahilan kung bakit dine-dedma siya ng younger sis.

Isang malapit kay Ara ang nagkuwento sa amin na nabasa niya ang text messages ni Cristine sa kapatid.  Hindi raw niya ‘yun ma-take dahil karamihan du’n ay below the belt na.

Hindi na niya inisa-isa ang text messages. Basta ang sabi niya, hindi raw ugali ng ma-tinong kapatid ang inasal ni Cristine sa Ate Ara niya.

Ang Betty La Fea (Ugly Betty) ayisang popular na telenobela na nagmula sa Columbia. Nilikha ito ni Mr. Fernando Gaitan at prinodyus ng Columbian Network na Radio Cadena Nacional (RCN).

Umikot ang istorya kay Betty, isang ‘di kaganda-hang babae na nagtatrabaho sa isang fashion design company.

Three movies ang gagawin ni Rufa Mae Quinto this year. Kasama rito ang Manay Po 2: Overload ng Regal na showing sa April 16, at ang I.T.A.L.Y. ng GMA Films.

May kasunod ng offer si Mother Lily Monteverde, ang My Sweet Papa at Desperadas 2.

May offer din ang OctoArts Films na sila ni Willie Revillame ang bida, at gagawin niya sa Viva Films ang Civil Status: Single.

Pati sa TV, nag-o-overload ang shows niya’t kasama rin siya sa Dyesebel at siya ang magbibigay ng mga paa kay Dyesebel (Marian Rivera).

Hindi pa niya alam kung kailan siya makakapag-taping, basta kasama siya’t lahat daw ng shows na hawak ni Direk Joyce Bernal, dapat ka-join siya sa cast at kahit anong role ay gagawin niya.

Angel Locsin (born Angelica Colmenares on April 23, 1985), is a popular television and film actress, commercial model, film producer and fashion designer in the Philippines who was introduced in GMA Network’s youth-oriented program, Click. Angel rose to prominence after being cast as one of the lead stars in the fantasy-themed television series Mulawin in 2004. Soon after, she starred as the superheroine Darna in the TV adaptation of the popular Mars Ravelo comics hit.Angel Locsin top-billed in several films and is known as the screen love interest of Richard Gutierrez and Dennis Trillo. When her contract expired last March 2007, Angel did not renew her contract to her mother studio, GMA Network and signed an exclusive contract in ABS-CBN despite her booming career in GMA. According to her its just a career move. She is now the lead star in the most awaited soap opera of ABS-CBN, Lobo where she paired to Piolo Pascual.
