Basic Information

Rachelle Ann Go (born August 31, 1986), she rose to prominence after winning the second season of the reality show Star For A Night renamed as Search For A Star, hosted by recording artist Regine Velasquez. She has since gone to have established a very successful recording career and is hailed as The Ultimate Champion.

Early life and career

Rachelle was born in Manila, Philippines and is of Chinese descent. Fondly called Shin or Shin-Shin by her friends, Rachelle’s interest in singing started at a very young age. Her father predicted even before she turned a year old that she was destined to be a singer. As a child, she showed signs of having a flair and passion for music. When she turned six, she underwent vocal training and lessons and, by the time she was nine, she participated in her very first amateur singing competition and won the first prize, belting out Jennifer Holliday’s “And I Am Telling You,” in spite of being the youngest contender.

Rachelle Ann Go Rocks Live Album The title of the CD says it all. Rachelle Ann Rocks Live means that Search for a Star champion Rachelle Ann Go has undergone a surprising change of pace and sound for her fourth album. “Rocks” means the songs included are all pop-rock favorites. Live on the other hand, means that Rachelle Ann recorded the entire CD in one sitting with a band. The session, which was also filmed for future release in DVD was held at 19 East in Paranaque.

Thirteen songs out of an initial list of two hundred titles made it to the final cut. Mostly popularized by male artists or groups with male soloists, these were chosen because they could be easily rearranged to suit Rachelle Ann’s style and their popularity among Filipino music lovers.

She bagged two trophies, one for Pag-ibig Na Kaya her duet with Christian Bautista as Best Collaboration and another for Alam Ng Ating Mga Puso, one of the cuts in her last album Obsession for Best Mellow Video. This is actually her second win in the Best Mellow Video category. She also won the same for From the Start, one of her big hits, two years ago.But right after she had established that she has a large, devoted following for her mellow love songs, Rachelle Ann turned around and came up with an album of hard-hitting rock ballads.
