MANILA, Philippines – The tandem of President Joseph Estrada and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay were ahead in the 4th day of canvassing of votes for president and vice-president.
Based on 140 Certificates of Canvass (COCs) counted by Congress sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBoC), Estrada received 234,474 votes.
Binay received 307,537 votes.
The votes from La Union province and Ilocos, the first electronically transmitted results to be canvassed, allowed Estrada and Binay to take the lead from Liberal Party candidates Senators Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Manuel Roxas II.
The Liberal Party tandem was ahead in the first three days of canvassing based on local and overseas absentee voting.
Aquino got 205,967 votes while Roxas got 232,986 votes.
The NBoC canvassed on Monday the results from La Union, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Ilocos Norte.
The results from Baguio City, Ilocos Sur, and Siquijor were deferred to due alleged discrepancies.

May tatlo silang anak — sina Jinggoy, Jackie and Jude.

Ping Lacson threatens to unmask Erap; Estrada unperturbed
September 8, 2009
Opposition Sen. Panfilo Lacson is threatening to “expose” in a privilege speech set to be delivered on Monday the alleged misdeeds of his former superior and commander in chief, former President Joseph Estrada, while Lacson was chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Estrada, for his part, simply brushed aside the reported threat of Lacson to “unmask the real Erap” in his privilege speech, saying he has nothing to hide.
“Good, that may just make me more popular,” Estrada said in jest when asked to comment on Lacson’s statement.
“I’m transparent. I’m very transparent. I’m not worried. Not one bit,” he added.
Lacson’s apparent declaration of war against Estrada stemmed from the former leader’s statements pointing to him as having supervision of “Oplan Delta,” alleged to be a plot eliminating former publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer.
The two are being implicated by former police Senior Supt. Cesar Mancao in the kidnapping and murder of Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in November of 2000.
