GMA7 Launches ‘PINOY IDOL’

GMA-7 had a grand launch at Annabel’s Restaurant for the first “Pinoy Idol”. Per their arrangement with Fremantle, GMA exec Wilma Galvante says they have to stop all their other talent searches like “Starstruck” and “Pinoy Pop Superstar”. It will officially start on April 5, after “Pinoy Records”, replacing “Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5”.

At the presscon, they showed the auditions they held in Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Batangas, Davao, Iloilo, Dagupan, Clark, and Mega Manila where thousands upon thousands of hopefuls joined. The audition footage was shown and some of the wannabes are really hilarious. 179 hopefuls were given gold tickets to go to Manila where more tests will be held until they get the semi-finals of 24 contestants and then the last 12 finalists.

Regine Velasquez, ‘di kayang iwanan si Ogie Alcasid

TAPOS na ang isyu. Nag-stay pa rin sa GMA-7 si Regine Velasquez at napanood ng televiewers ang  pagsasabi niyang siya’y mananatiling Kapuso.

Sa speech ni Regine sa SOP nu’ng Sunday ay  sinabi niyang nasabi niyang   gusto talaga niyang lumipat sa ABS-CBN  dahil may ibibigay sa  kanyang  show na bagay para sa kanya. Pero pinag-isipan niya ito nang husto.

Meron ding project ang GMA-7 for Regine kaya lang hindi ito tugma sa kanyang schedule.

Nanatili siyang Kapuso  dahil hindi niya mai wanan ang magandang samahan nila sa   SOP.

Regine’s transfer to ABS-CBN, a big gamble?

WHAT we saw in last Sunday when Regine Velasquez poured her emotions on “SOP” has said it all. She may not have said goodbye to GMA 7, her co-hosts  and to the audience but  action speaks louder than words.

Yes, the loudest whisper in showbiz now is  that Regine has finally decided to   join ABS-CBN, after a  long and hard  thought .

Two years ago, she told us that she was offered by one of the big bosses of ABS-CBN to join the network at a name-your-price deal.  She was a moneymaker that time. Her movies, concerts and albums  were all big hits.

We can’t say whether this is a good decision or not. We can only remember that her last movie with Piolo Pascual didn’t rake in so much money and her last concert at the Aliw Theater wasn’t so impressive. Her relationship with Ogie Alcasid doesn’t create so much ripples, in fact, some frown at it. So, if it’s true that she is moving to ABS-CBN, wouldn’t it be a big gamble on the network?

Regine, ’di pinayagang magpaalam sa ‘SOP’

OFFICIAL na nga raw ang balita, Ian F., na anytime now, pipirma
na ng kontrata sa ABS-CBN si Regine Velasquez. Her appearance in SOP, where she had been a mainstay for years, last Sunday, was her last.
Small wonder na nag-iyakan ang buong cast ng show habang inaawit ang kanilang final number.

Sa totoo lang, aminin man o hindi ng GMA-7, malaking kawalan si Regine sa SOP. Kahit ano pang sabihin, she’s the genuine and most popular singer sa mga maituturing na senior regular singer ng nabanggit na noontime program.

Tiyak na mapi-feel ng audience ng SOP ang pagkawala ni Regine.
Gaano kaya katotoo ang balitang gusto sana ni Regine na magpaalam sa kanyang TV audience, kaso, a top gun of the program reportedly didn’t allow her to?

In any case, for her first appearance as a certified Kapamilya, Regine is appearing in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya on Friday.

For the first time, too, she is paired with Albert Martinez. First time rin siyang ididirek ni Jeffrey Jeturian.

MMK gave Regine the honor to choose the story of the episode she’ll appear in. And her choice is the story about two star-crossed lovers torn apart by their families.

Asked if naka-relate siya sa kanyang role sa story, considering that she also found herself in love with someone na may pamilya na in real life, aniya, “Eh, ako, wala pa naman akong pamilya. But I was must say na ang dahilan why I chose this particular story is because I found the role challenging. It’s my first, too, na gumanap ng role na ganito. Na may pagka-off-beat.”

Actually, pangalawang beses na ni Regine na lumabas sa MMK. Her first appearance was with Piolo Pascual in an episode called Lobo (yes, Lobo, which now happens to be the title of Piolo’s teleserye with Angel Locsin) and where she was adjudged best actress by the Star Awards for TV.

’Pag nagkataon din nga pala, wala nang sagabal kung sakaling gumawa ng movie si Regine with Aga Muhlach. They are now both Kapamilya.

Just asking nga pala: Matuloy pa kaya ang pagtatambal nila ni Ogie Alcasid, Regine’s real-life sweetheart, sa pelikulang Love Is Blind and Deaf, na ang producer ay GMA FIlms?
