Maui Taylor’s Change of Heart

April 15, 2008

Eleven years in the business is already a long time to get stuck in sexy roles. This much, Maui Taylor admits. In the same breath, the Viva artist concedes showing your body on screen to please male moviegoers no end is getting to be tiring. You can almost hear her say, “It sucks.”“Sexy roles were only my stepping stones (towards more serious acting),” relates Maui, looking back at those skin flicks she made as early as age 15.

To top it all, sexy films are on the way out, what with the Internet and other marvels of technology offering sexy pictures galore at the click of a mouse button.

Charice Pempengco: from Ellen to Oprah

April 15, 2008

Let’s start with the sad(?) news: Henceforth, Charice will be known simply as Charice — not Charice Pempengco as she used to be — because her estranged father (and his family) have asked her to stop using that surname.Well and good because, according to Charice, who’s turning 15 on May 10, the last time she saw her father, Ricky “P,” was 12 years ago. That was the time when Charice’s mom Raquel and Mr. “P” separated.

“I haven’t been in good terms with him since then,” said Raquel, who has another child, Carl (13), by him. “I’ve always been a single mom.”

The good news is that, after her landmark guest appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ self-titled US TV show late last year, Charice will soon be seen on yet another popular US TV show, Oprah no less.

April 14, 2008

AFTER three weeks, the first eviction night was held in the PBB Teen Edition Plus and the first teen housemate to go was Jieriel, called the Bubbly Girl of Davao who wasn’t so bubbly anymore when she was ousted.

We had the gut feel that she’d be the one to be evicted as most viewers have this perception that she is a complainer or “reklamadora,”  a trait that obviously also turned off her housemates.

She says she’s not “reklamadora” but just frank.
