Fresh from her successful In Motion concert at the Araneta Coliseum a few weeks ago, Sarah Geronimo continues to make big waves in the entertainment industry with the release of her new album. Titled Sarah Geronimo, Taking Flight, it showcases the works of some of today’s most important Filipino composers.
Sarah feels very privileged about having the opportunity to record these very special songs. “Natutuwa po ako,” she says.
“These songs are some of the best I’ve ever heard. I am sure that people will enjoy singing them for a long time to come. I am very lucky that I was allowed to record them.
Lalo na po itong I’ll Be Alright ni Sir Louie. I have long wanted to record his songs kaya happy ako that he gave me this chance.”
The lead cut and first single release is I’ll Be Alright, which was written by Edith Gallardo and the famous composer and arranger Louie Ocampo. This is Sarah’s first Ocampo song and I’ll Be Alright, which is about a young girl assuring her loved ones that she is now ready to make it in the real world, is expected to be another important addition to Louie’s earlier hits like Tell Me, You are My Song, Say That You Love Me and many others. He also composed Close to My Heart, which is another new song in Sarah’s album.
The other cuts included in Taking Flight are Ikaw a composition by Medwin Marfil of the group True Faith; I’m Sorry by Soc Villanueva and Jungee Marcelo; Time to Let Go featuring Mark Bautista and composed by Rebel Madagasang, who also gave I’ll Be Here to the album; So and What If I, both composed by Trina Belamide of Shine and Let Us Tell the World of His Love fame; Miss and Kahit Na, two works by actor turned musician Chuckie Dreyfus; and Mr. Deadma by newcomer Drizzle Nuniz.
She is scheduled to visit SM Marilao on August 4 and SM Fairview on August 12, 2007.
Taking Flight is sponsored by Manila Bulletin, 90.7 Love Radio, Jollibee, Charmee, Hapee, Skechers Time and PCSO.
Taking Flight is Sarah’s fourth solo studio album. She recorded Popstar A Dream Come True with the big hits To Love You More and Forever’s Not Enough by Vehnee Saturno right after winning the Star for a Night TV competition five years ago. This was followed by Sweet Sixteen which included Saturno’s How Could You Say You Love Me and I Wanna Know What Love Is, and the international album Becoming with Jimmy Borja’s I Still Believe in Loving You and Carry My Love.
